1. Put everything to dry immediately

If you can't wash your things right away, at least try to hang them out. This avoids leaving them in a ball in your gym bag or dirty laundry basket.

Damp clothes that sit in a ball for too long can start to mold. They produce bacteria, which won't go away...even after you wash them!

2. Dip them in white vinegar

To kill bacteria, soak your things in white vinegar and water. Mix 1 part vinegar to 4 parts water, and soak for 30 minutes just before washing.

You can also add a little vinegar, baking soda, or even lemon juice before putting them in the machine. Warning ! Don't do this if your detergent contains bleach!

3. Wash them in very hot water

When washing your clothes, set the hottest temperature possible (depending on the fabric). It works very well with cotton. It withstands very high temperatures without being damaged.

4. Overdose for specialty fabrics

Warning ! Sportswear is often made of special materials, which can be washed in lukewarm water. This means that in order for no bacteria to survive, you may need to add a little more vinegar or lemon juice.

5. Use the sun's rays

The sun's rays are naturally anti-bacterial, so don't hesitate to use it to dry your clothes! Especially since some fabrics cannot go to the dryer.
