How to use brewer's yeast on plants?

Like all living beings, plants need nutrients to grow and flower.

Fertilizer is often applied.

But what I hate is that these products can be very chemical.

And yet, we can make it simpler and more natural.

You need:

- 10 liters of lukewarm water

- 3 tablespoons of brewer's yeast

- watering can

Mix the yeast in the lukewarm water, stirring to dilute it.

Then let the mixture sit for at least 2 hours.

Then, water your plants with this "boost" solution.

It will bring them phosphorus, potassium and a whole bunch of vitamins (B) which stimulate growth and flowering .

Repeat every 3 days in the spring.

You know the best?

You can even use expired yeast!

So, no mess, and moreover, it's good for my flowers!

2. To speed up composting

If you have a garden, you probably already have a compost heap or bin.

This is very interesting for recycling so-called "green" waste.

They decompose to form very rich and very fertile soil.

But having a living compost heap that decomposes well is quite an art.

You have to know how to mix the waste skillfully so that it ferments.

This is done thanks to microorganisms.

And to speed up fermentation, brewer's yeast is my favorite ally .

For this, 2 methods:

- For a large compost heap: alternate a layer of organic waste and a layer of brewer's yeast (the equivalent of 3 sachets). Then, with a pitchfork, turn the pile over to mix.

- For a bin compost heap: Dilute 1 block of baker's yeast and 100 g of sugar in 5 liters of water in an airtight container. Mix, close the container and leave for 5 days to ferment. Then water your compost with it and turn the pile.

Whether your compost is in a heap or in a bin, you must turn the heap at least once a month.

The best ? That's because brewer's yeast attracts snails and slugs.

You know, those animals that also help promote decomposition.

And above all, make sure it is always moist. Otherwise, the microorganisms die.

However, be careful not to drown it. The result would be the same.

3. To catch slugs

If slugs love to eat your lettuce plants, brewer's yeast is here to fix it.

We all know that beer trap.

So why not use your own yeast, even out of date?

For this, mix 1 tablespoon of yeast and 2 tablespoons of sugar in 750 ml of lukewarm water.

Then, put this mixture in a container with not too high edges.

Slugs are attracted to this smell and come and drink the mixture.

So it's time to catch them and release them in the wild, far from your salads!
