Whether new or reused, be sure to thoroughly clean glass jars by boiling them in water for 10 minutes. Hand wash lids in soapy water to disinfect. When clean, remove the glass jars, let them cool, and then place them in the refrigerator until you're ready to fill them.
This simple recipe calls for 1 pound of unsalted, unsalted butter (4 sticks). Unwrap each of the butter sticks and place them in the mixing bowl. Top with 1/4 cup honey, 1/4 real maple syrup, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract.
Mixing by hand would be easy with a spatula, but a stand mixer is nice for creating a smooth, even consistency. Allow ingredients to blend for 1-2 minutes, scraping down sides of bowl as needed.
If you're giving the butter as a gift, personalize the jar lid and a label with craft paper. Use the jar lid as a template to cut the circle to size. Create a label for the product as well; We use stick-on letters for a clean look.
