The eleventh edition of the International Floralies of Nantes, one of the most prestigious floral events in Europe, will be held from May 8 to 18, 2014, as always in the city of Nantes. Organized on the banks of the Erdre, at the Parc des expositions de la Beaujoire, the event will present impressive ornamental creations created by professionals and amateurs from all over the world.
But that's not all, the International Floralies welcome this year the theme "Bouquet of Arts", which should inspire exhibitors with various stagings combining architecture, cinema, music, dance...
For each edition of the event, the Floralies Organizing Committee defines a theme that becomes the common thread of the event:"Bouquet d'Arts" aims this year to associate the usual landscape and floral creations with various artistic disciplines. This prestigious exhibition, which has taken place every 5 years since 1956, brings together lovers of botany and horticulture selected for their know-how, from all over France and elsewhere.
During the 2014 Floralies, we can also admire the creations of the winners of the "Les Jardi'stiques" competition, which currently invites kindergarten and elementary classes to create a garden, real or imaginary, using all forms of artistic expression. The discovery of budding gardeners is to be expected!
The purpose of this gathering is not only to bring together enthusiasts of floral staging but also to create unique atmospheres from one edition to another – Europe in Flowers, Symphony of Lights, À Fleur d’eau… Offering visitors to new walks and various shows punctuating the visit on the theme of publishing, the Floralies are an exceptional setting that invites you to dream and escape.
Indoors and outdoors, each space of the immense Parc de la Beaujoire will take on different visual and olfactory atmospheres, with the aim of disorienting and surprising the public. The exhibition will extend over more than 45,000 m2 where the creations of landscape engineers, scenographers and conductors will come to life, associated for the occasion with the know-how of the talented exhibitors.
If the Floralies of Nantes are considered as the biggest horticultural event in France, there are many other floralies throughout the world honoring who a theme, who a mode of cultivation, who a group of flowers such as the tulip, the rose... Thus the "Rose Festival" in Loches is dedicated to all kinds of roses, their cultivation and the various exhibition techniques.
Floralies, a term taken from the Latin floralia which designated the Roman floral games (festivals celebrated in honor of Flora, goddess of the garden, flowers and spring) show the garden as a space for art and culture. Going from a simple floral exhibition to an aesthetic reconstruction of art gardens, this type of event highlights creativity and innovation in the field of landscaped space.
