On January 9 and 10, 2010, the moon is descending and we will be on flower day . It's the perfect weekend to make dry wood cuttings flowering and deciduous shrubs. (for the following years, refer to the corresponding lunar calendar)
The right size, about 20 cm long and the size of a pencil. The cut must be clean, for this prefer a knife (or grafter) rather than secateurs as in the photo. In the case of a hollow wood like forsythia, the basic cut is made very close to the node, where there is pith .
The cuttings are installed in a mixture of soil and sand pushing them deep. I installed the cuttings in the holes of a cinder block, which will be easier for the "demoulding" next fall.
Cuttings of dry wood cut with secateurs. The size is not clear. Prefer a graft.
Cuttings of dry wood cut under a knot
case of forsythia, the wood is hollow
case of forsythia, the cut is made on the node, where there is marrow
