Question from a user:should roses be pruned when planting them?
The only pruning I recommend is that of the end of the roots, when the roses are bare-rooted.
I don't cut branches for several reasons. Winter prunings do not heal until vegetation resumes in the spring. Pruning wounds are openings that dry out the branches.
In addition, wood is a source of energy. To remove wood is to deprive the plant of part of its strength for the restart of spring. It will be high time in season, or even next year, to prune the antlers.
