Organic farming is a mode of agricultural and food production that combines the best environmental practices, a high degree of biodiversity, the preservation of natural resources, the application of high standards in terms of animal welfare. The principles of organic farming include an ethical dimension which translates into ecological objectives, but also social and humanistic (international solidarity, bringing together producers and consumers) and economic (companies on a human scale, positive effects on employment)
French and European regulations officially define organic farming. The central point of the specifications is the exclusion of synthetic chemicals, with the exception of those mentioned in a positive list.
Some people think (and say) that organic does not exist because water and air are not free of pollutants. Organic farming prohibits synthetic chemical inputs into growing plots, but no one can avoid "inputs" through air or water. Except that if the productions present chemical pollutants, they can be downgraded and not benefit from the AB (or other) label. Even agricultural land may not have or lose its label.
There is no "0" risk in organic farming, but ask yourself what is the percentage risk of eating pollutants with conventional farming?
