In 2020, partly due to the pandemic, we spent more time in our own garden. For many people this is an extra reason to tackle their garden. For 2021 Tuinbranche Nederland will present three model gardens based on the latest style trends, based on living greenery. Get to know the Soft Safe Garden, the Biotope Garden and the Quirky Patio Garden. There is plenty of attention for sustainability, biodiversity and good water management. The latter means that during heavy rain showers, the water drains away quickly, but can also be collected (and kept for the garden). The trend gardens of 2021 serve as inspiration with the aim of a pleasant, green and healthy living environment for people and animals.
The Soft Safe Garden
For many people, climate change and artificial intelligence can feel threatening. In response to this, we want a garden that evokes a safe feeling and a familiar image. You want to know yourself embraced, rounded and organic shapes reinforce this. A warm color palette of light and dark shades intensifies the soft appearance, making everyone feel extra at ease. An important accent color is pink. In the Soft Safe Garden, grass, meandering borders and rounded furniture form an inviting whole. The plants are skin-colored like purple bells (Heuchera) and are mobile and transparent like ornamental grasses. Richly flowering hydrangeas (Hydrangea) provide color accents. The round pots give the whole a homely look.
The Biotope Garden
Climate change and the pandemic are raising awareness that something needs to change. Carefree consumption is no longer of this time. Themes such as sustainability and nature are of increasing importance. In the garden you can create a piece of nature, where you can completely isolate yourself. An ideal environment to relax and to work undisturbed. Biodiversity and water collection are important and so you can set up the garden as a small ecosystem. The sheltered Biotope Garden contains many tall plants (such as ornamental grasses) that surround you comfortably. Due to the gravel used, rainwater can quickly sink into the bottom, but it is also collected in the mini pond with aquatic plants. The concrete and reed fences give an extra traditional and sustainable look. Girl's eyes (Coreopsis) provides a cheerful yellow accent between the lush green.
Quirky Patio Garden
The world is in full swing. Major changes are taking place in the fields of economy, ecology and globalization. We don't take those changes lightly. The search for new proportions is also visible in the garden. The familiar layout is literally being overhauled. Small semi-enclosed spaces, stairs and elevations transform the outdoor space into a new, playful whole. Due to the differences in height, the view of the garden is always different. By experimenting with the containers and the plants, the garden remains exciting. The monochrome, powerful color areas, the geometric shapes, a staircase to the future and the round window as a view into that future, this patio garden is for people who embrace the new era. Colorful plants such as sunflower (Helianthus), dahlia, flame flower (Phlox) and hydrangea (Hydrangea) look great with the blue and rusty brown tones. A design piece of furniture finishes it off.
