Now that the sun is shining, the weather is ideal for a nice picnic. Did you know that you can also organize a cozy picnic in your own garden or on your terrace? Lush or simple? It really doesn't matter:all kinds of outdoor meals are fun because they combine two of the best things in life:food and nature. Here are some tips for organizing a picnic in your garden or on your patio.
A park in your garden Picnic in the park is by far the most popular picnic location. Bring the park to your home and get to work in the garden to organize a fun picnic. Choose the nicest spot in your garden and put down a nice rug and pillows. When the ground is moist, a tarp underneath protects your fabric.
Pimp your terrace Make your terrace an original picnic spot by adding nice cushions and/or a string of lights. But what's a picnic without some greenery and color around you? Collect your plants, and add some greenery and color to your setting.
Forget picnic baskets
Pack everything in a large tote bag or reusable shopping bag. It's easier to carry and can hold more than a wicker basket.
Add accents
For an evening picnic, bring out lanterns, candles and lights and place them all over the yard. Battery operated candles are always a safer choice. For a daytime picnic, hang rice paper balls from branches, or hang a garland made of paper and twine, they provide a colorful accent.
Food and drink
A baguette, some dips, various cheeses, figs, sausage, olives, salad, grilled chicken, strawberries and grapes and a lovely bottle of wine are both visually appealing and delicious. Opt for things that require minimal preparation and are easy to clean up; you want to focus on having a nice meal and sipping your glass of wine while relaxing and enjoying each other's company.
Don't forget the music and entertainment
Portable speakers are smaller and cheaper than ever. They connect easily to your phone and turn any simple picnic into a fun one. Also bring a board game, a ball or a Frisbee for outdoor fun.
