It is high time for a bathroom renovation in our current house. I have therefore gained a lot of bathroom inspiration to make a good choice for the upcoming renovation. Gaining this inspiration, I went looking for the latest trends, but also for convenience in the bathroom and a very nice appearance. I hope that the following is a nice source of inspiration for you too.
Table of Contents
To be able to make the right choice for our upcoming renovation, I've been browsing Pinterest quite a bit. Although Instagram is also a good source of inspiration these days, I still prefer Pinterest. Two years ago, I started looking for ideas to renovate the old bathroom cheaply. It can no longer be repaired. Not only is it extremely dated, but also defects such as too much moisture are a big problem. In addition, parts of the sanitary facilities (such as our bath, for example) are so damaged that they can no longer be cleaned. So a good time to get some inspiration for our new bathroom. And maybe for yours too.
First I want to talk about the trends you are currently seeing for the bathroom. I got inspiration for the trends from Grohe, so fair to mention.
We don't see those standard stainless steel taps everywhere anymore. Of course they are still chosen, but you don't see them as much as before. Do you want to gain bathroom inspiration and do you like taps in color? Then take a look at the faucets above in the colors black, copper or gold. How cool is it to add some extra class to your bathroom in this way?
Keep in mind that these types of taps may be slightly more sensitive to, for example, limescale or other stains. Especially with black taps, it is advisable to take a water descaler at home, otherwise you will quickly see limescale deposits on it. With a water softener you not only no longer have to polish your black tap to keep it limescale-free, you also no longer have to dry your shower wall after a shower.
Today, natural materials in the bathroom are the trend. Natural materials such as wood, bamboo and concrete are frequently used. But we are also increasingly seeing natural stone for inspiration in the bathroom. Combine all this with the luxurious bathroom taps in color and you get a stylish bathroom look. Of course, the finishing touch consists of a few nice plants in your bathroom. In this way you create a living room feeling in your bathroom and an oasis of peace.
Choose plants that can withstand high humidity, such as a grass lily, spoon plant or fern. Did you know that a fern also removes fungi and other impurities from the air? Ideal in your bathroom I think!
This is one I'm thinking about myself. We already have photo wallpaper in various places. At the office, but also in the toilet and in the end it also seems super cool to do photo wallpaper behind the sinks. I just need to figure out which theme. Wallpaper in the shower corner doesn't seem very smart to me, but there is probably a wall in your bathroom that doesn't get soaking wet in every shower area. In that case, non-woven photo wallpaper, for example, is fine.
Sustainability has been on the rise in recent years, and fortunately. And we want to see sustainability not only in the materials used in, for example, the bathroom furniture, but also in smaller accessories. I mentioned bamboo above as a trend in the field of a natural bathroom look, but this also includes sustainable wood and natural materials in the textiles you use for the bathroom.
If you are looking for inspiration for sustainable accessories in your bathroom, think of a bamboo toothbrush, the use of natural shampoo bars and, for example, toothpaste tablets instead of toothpaste from a tube.
We are used to bathrooms being fully tiled in the past. And often with white tiles (or those beautiful dark red ones we still have 😉). The overall look of the bathroom in those good old days was more clinical than stylish. Fortunately, this is completely different today. We can choose from tiles, natural stone, but also, for example, concrete ciré in the bathroom. I even heard someone say last week that they just painted the bathroom walls with exterior wall paint!
And what about PVC in the bathroom in a beautiful wood look. By varying the wall and floor covering compared to the old 'standard' white tiles, your bathroom gets a lot more appearance.
There is so much beauty out there that I honestly don't know anymore. First I got inspiration for concrete ciré in the bathroom, because I just love it. Yet I also hear sounds that after a few years it will no longer remain as beautiful as you would like. Or just not completely waterproof. So I doubt again. For example, I just painted and varnished the walls in our toilet, but I don't dare to do that in the bathroom. However, I actually want to get rid of the 'tile effect'. Do you have another great idea for me?
