Tonight we used the air conditioning for the first time. And what was it necessary. Man man I've been floating away in bed for a few days, it's so damp in our upstairs bedrooms. We have three portable air conditioners for our bedrooms. But those air conditioners are in the attic during the winter and of course have to be added again. Somehow that always takes longer than necessary. We first sleep in the bloody heat for a few nights, until it makes us grumpy and only then do the air conditioning come down again. Hence the consideration… do we continue to work with these mobile air conditioners, or are we going to buy a fixed air conditioner?
We are 'growing' in the field of air conditioning in the home. I think I can put it that way, haha. We started years ago with one mobile air conditioner. In our old house. We went to all the bedrooms with that air conditioning. Purely to cool the bedrooms before going to sleep. This way we could all fall asleep in a reasonably cool bedroom and we were lucky to be the last to go to bed… so the air conditioning stayed in our room. This really only works if your kids actually go to bed at different times. With us there is a five-year difference between the oldest and the youngest, so that went well in itself. But easy is different of course.
When we moved it was time for extra mobile air conditioners. We searched for the top 5 Best Mobile Airco in order to make the right choice for the following purchases. In the middle of summer of course. Because somehow we only think about buying a fixed air conditioner or a mobile air conditioner when it is actually too late. Do you recognize that too? In the past two years we have therefore used three mobile air conditioners. This way we all have a cool bedroom when we start sleeping, but also during the night.

We started with mobile air conditioners for two reasons. The first is the price tag. These are significantly cheaper than buying a fixed air conditioner. Logical too, because you put down a mobile air conditioner, hang the hose out of the window, and you're done. There is more to it than a fixed air conditioner. We also didn't know exactly after moving because we all had to wait in terms of costs. We already knew that the costs of refurbishing our house would be high. With single glass and no insulation, you know that a lot of money has to go into your house before you get a little comfort. That took priority and buying a fixed air conditioner was on the wish list.
We still have a lot to renovate, but we already know that the furnishings of the bedrooms will remain as they are now. At least for the coming years. And that means we may now be able to take the next step. Despite the fact that we always weigh up the renovations in terms of costs, we have now decided that we will have an installer come to discuss the options. With a bit of luck we will have a fixed air conditioner this summer.
A mobile air conditioner is especially useful if you have a smaller budget and cannot buy a fixed air conditioner. Or if you do not yet know exactly how the work should be carried out because, for example, you are still going to renovate. In addition, you can easily move a mobile air conditioner from, for example, the living room to the bedroom. This way you can cool several rooms with one air conditioner.
At the same time, I also find the above a bit of a disadvantage. The portable air conditioner often gets in the way in your bedroom. During the summer you have quite a device in your room near the window because the hose has to go outside. In addition, a mobile air conditioner consumes more energy than a fixed air conditioner. Now we have a lot of solar panels on the shed so that is less unpleasant for us, but it is still a shame.
If you are going to buy a fixed air conditioner, you can also use it to heat the room in winter if you make the right choice. I also think that is an advantage for the bedrooms, especially if you want to get rid of the gas, for example.
