I recently posted a blog about a new workspace at home and the things I find important about it. In that blog post you can also see what the workspace looked like a few weeks ago, with the old barn doors. A lot still had to be done to make it an inspiring office design and a comfortable working environment.

We are now several steps further. The office is not finished yet and the inspiring office design could still be sharpened up a bit 😉 , but the start has been made and I am already very happy with it!
Look how cool these bar frames are placed in it! The amount of light that comes in is enormous and I am very happy with that. In any case, I really like light at home, but that is especially important at my workplace. After all, I spend a lot of hours there.
As you may see, plastering still needs to be done, but that can only be carried out once the ceiling has been insulated and boarded up and we have demolished another wall. The office will be even bigger than you see here, so that Luc and Lotte can also easily reach it and we can also make it a nice place to do crafts - in addition to a workplace. We still have some work to do here in the coming months, but I couldn't resist setting it up to show you something.
Admittedly… the table and chairs that are there, they come from outside and still have to be replaced. But I wanted to get an impression of the office design so badly that I couldn't contain my inspiration:so I started to carry it around. This way I can also view my new vintage carpet, which is especially intended for the new office, in the right setting.
In my previous blog I already indicated that we have not yet made a decision about the floor, but now I am ready to leave the concrete floor in place. With rugs I will give my inspiring office design a nudge in the right direction. How do you like it?
We also temporarily had the rug in the living room (see above). It is so insanely beautiful that I doubt whether we will not get another copy. I got the rug from Volero where you can find fairly affordable rugs. I immediately fell in love with this rug. It also combines so easily with all kinds of colors. I think that pink from above is super nice, but also ocher yellow and blue - like the cushions on the wooden chair that I inherited from my parents, I think is very beautiful.
The rug is 2.30 meters by 3.30 meters long and will soon contain an elongated wooden oval table from the Karwei that we bought during the Black Friday deals with a 25% discount. The table is 2.20 meters long, leaving more than half a meter of carpet on both sides with this office design. Nice! In addition, it is not long-pole which I really like. And wood also combines very nicely with this vintage green, check it out…
I just need an extra rug 😉 . When the dividing wall is removed, another table will be added. A round one, made of the same material as the oval table. This part of the office will soon also have a concrete floor, so I would like a carpet here too. Now the only question is… will I go for one of the vintage rugs again, or would a jute rug be more fun?
For example, I think the rugs below are really fantastic and I think that would also be very nice under a round table. I only doubt about the color (because the table is also made of wood). And does it go black with the green carpet from above or should I take the gray variant?
Do you have an opinion about this? Let me know, because I'm curious what you like best. And do you have a completely different idea? Be sure to let me know!
Even though inspiration is important to everyone during his or her work, everyone gets their inspiration from somewhere else. I thought about it for a while and came to the conclusion that I would like to have a cozy office that is not too sterile. My office in our previous house had a white table and white cabinets. We keep the cabinets themselves, but the office table that will be replaced to create more atmosphere. I actually want to achieve a kind of inspiring living room effect with my new office design. Hopefully a nice open cupboard will fit in later with plants for some extra fun and against work stress 😉 .
We got the orange barrel in the corner from an aunt of Frank. It was sitting there in the attic collecting dust and I think it's fantastic. It gives color to the room in one fell swoop, don't you think?
