It's an eternal battle with us. I first want to have December 5 behind me, but Frank has already started to itch at the end of November. As soon as the days get darker, he wants to get started with the artificial Christmas tree and 'his' Christmas village. And every year I hold back, until this year. Maybe it's because Christmas is increasingly taking over for us. The conviviality around this time - and the fact that Lotte no longer believes in Sinterklaas - means that we are getting into the Christmas spirit more and more and earlier. The room is already full of boxes of Christmas stuff, even before the holy night is over.
But besides decorating the Christmas tree and the Christmas village that De Man likes to display every year, I also like to go into Christmas in a more styled way. I like sleek with a cozy touch. A nice counterpoint to all the kitch of the Christmas village. As far as I'm concerned, we also put up a wooden Christmas tree, practically too, without all those needles. And last but not least… very environmentally conscious! But I lost that battle again this year.

Making a poinsettia for Christmas is what Lotte likes to do and I absolutely love this poinsettia. Found on KARWEI's home inspiration page. Complete with explanations that are easy to follow and not too difficult. I love that. With the green pine branches you can make a beautiful natural variant of it, but you can also cover it with glitter or with a light cord that works on battery.
This mini Christmas tree made of paper is also very creative. And right up my alley when it comes to style. In addition, it is quite easy to make, although it does require some cutting. But hey, you want to craft for Christmas or not. And besides… that's what I have Daughter for.
How cool is this one? I only want to make these for Christmas with buttons in the colors black, white, gray and green. But of course you can think of all kinds of variations on this. You can make owls in all kinds of ways, but I think this one is very cute. And also fairly easy to make with a super nice result.
What do you need to craft these owls for Christmas?
Make sure you have pinecones with the 'scales' well open. You put the cotton wool in those spaces. Cut and paste eyes and add a nose. Ready!

Cut the baking paper to the height intended for you. Draw some cute Olaf faces on it and then seal them with some glue. Put your 'Olaf' over a tea light and you have made your own mood lighting.

How cute are these capped peanuts? We think they are super cute. What you need is the following:
Twist the wire into the desired shape and stick it in the shelled peanuts as hands, ears and the like. Also make a ring with a stem for each capped peanut. Insert the stem into the peanut at the top so that you can thread a string through the ring.

These earthenware flower pots are completely hip at the moment. If you still have one in your closet, you can turn it into a nice reindeer in no time at all with some paper, chenille thread, a pompom and eyes.

I found these snowflakes that you can craft for Christmas at thebestideasforkids.com. There is also a very helpful video that you can watch. The little blue snowflakes are punched out with a die-cut machine. I also have these at home and Lotte and I use all those punched out objects (Christmas trees, snowflakes, deer, but also flowers and houses and so on) for our mixed media and scrap craft hours.

Of course you can also craft many fun things for Christmas with toilet rolls. As above the snowman, Santa and the reindeer. Super easy, quick to prepare and yet fun to make.
