Organize a small space

Joyce has an industrial style open kitchen that is finger licking good! My own kitchen fits about 6 times in it. Cooking is not really my hobby anyway, but with a lack of space it is completely made up (and therefore not more fun!). Furnishing small spaces remains a challenge. How do you ensure that you make optimal use of that limited space?

Whether it's your inie-mini kitchen, or your small bathroom… To prevent claustrophobic attacks, a practical layout is a must. In this blog you will therefore read tips with which furnishing a small kitchen can give you a lot of extra work space.

Small kitchen decorating tips; hang it up

A small kitchen doesn't have to be uncomfortable. Perhaps you tend to take "the art of omission" a little too far. Not necessary! If you go for practical solutions and furnishing, you can store a lot in your small kitchen. And the atmosphere doesn't have to be inferior!

For example, you can easily save some space on your counter top by hanging herbs and the like as above. In addition, it looks cozy and colorful!

Small kitchens made to measure:go for order

Do you also have to furnish a very small kitchen? Then “order” is the magic word. Lots of things in a small space quickly give a messy effect. Therefore, make sure you have the same storage jars, and put your things neatly down. This immediately makes the kitchen seem a lot more spacious. But there are also a lot of ways to really save space.

1. Hang magnetic spice jars

Ideal for furnishing a small kitchen, and it looks cozy too! If you go for magnetic spice jars, your stock hardly takes up any space. In addition, you can see at a glance which herbs need to be supplemented. Of course you can also immediately put your shopping list on the magnetic board.

For the spice jars, for example, look at Dille &Kamille.

2. Extra workspace… On your gas stove

Organizing your kitchen can be a real challenge, especially if you only have a few square meters. And that while you can make good use of your workspace in the kitchen. No worries:you can easily create extra workspace on your gas hob.

A little research on the internet yields a lot of (great!) possibilities. A wooden cutting board, for example, which you simply place on your stove. When all the carving is done, you put the shelf back away and you can use your stove again where it actually is intended for. That's smart furnishing your small kitchen! Okay, it's not exactly that kitchen island you've always dreamed of… But hey, you have to do something, as a kitchen princess with a lack of space!

3. Organize your stock on the ceiling in a small kitchen

It's an 'old-fashioned' idea:my grandfather already screwed his stash of nails to the ceiling of the shed. And for people with a small kitchen, furnishing it this way is just as practical as it is for grandpa's shed. Hang up your stock! It doesn't get in the way anymore, and it still looks nice too.

You simply screw the gunwale to the ceiling. If you need the macaroni, simply unscrew it to hang it up again after use. Long live the old-fashioned ideas for a small kitchen!

Small kitchens examples:go for vertical

Even in the smallest kitchen, unused space remains. Narrow edges where you can't put a cupboard in. But to allow those spots to collect dust, while you already have so little space, is also a shame. Then you better make it a vertical drawer!

This vertical drawer is built-in, but you can also order a separate one, on wheels. Ideal for that space between the fridge and the wall, for example. Or wherever you have a little extra space to spare! Tip:Build such a vertical drawer on wheels yourself? Check out www.diypassion.com!

Get more out of your fridge

Do you take everything out of your fridge? And we're not talking about cheese, milk or meats… If you have a small kitchen, you probably don't have a huge American fridge. Do you also suffer from lack of space in your built-in refrigerator?

There are plenty of ideas for a small kitchen and a small refrigerator. How about the above solution? This way you can immediately put a lot more in your fridge. Because no matter how small the kitchen, with the right ingredients you can still prepare a delicious meal!

Furnish a small kitchen? Make use of the 'blind spots'

Are you also sitting with that one kitchen cupboard in the corner that you hardly use? Because you can barely get in? Then there is a very simple solution.

Install one (or more) turntables in your corner cabinet. This makes it very easy to reach the things that are in that 'dead corner'.

How to organize the kitchen:create that extra storage space

Not only the corners are used… There is probably still some more space where you can get everything out of it. As long as you come up with the right ideas for your kitchen. Hence our inspiration of course 😉 .

For example, you can make an extra drawer under the lower kitchen cabinets. But even under the higher cupboards there is often a lot of unused space. You can also install an extra drawer there, so that you get more storage space.
