It could happen to you:your flight is cancelled! Flight canceled claim your compensation for free. No expensive mediation of 25%, but just receive free compensation. I'll tell you how this works.
Flight cancelled! It happened to my daughter and her father in August this year. According to the company due to bad weather, but that was not the case at all. The stress was unbelievable, because the next day she would be celebrating her 18th birthday and now everything indicated that she would never be home on time. While she was in a panic, because I had already made so many preparations and she couldn't cancel anyone, I searched diligently for a solution to get her back in time.
According to the airline, there was no possibility to fly back the next day and they could not indicate when this would be the case. There you are:in a foreign country, you have to be back the next day, but the airline doesn't give home. You have to find out for yourself:they would then reimburse the new tickets afterwards.
After many detours, I found a flight from another city, so that she could finally be home in time and enjoy a well-deserved birthday after a sleepless night. It did cost a lot of money (all in all, more than 500 euros, including train to another city and new airline tickets). That is advanced, but of course it must also come back.
There you are:your flight is canceled or delayed. This is possible due to all kinds of circumstances:from problems with the aircraft itself to weather conditions that make it irresponsible to fly. Whatever the reason, you as a passenger are the victims. Fortunately, there are rules and you are entitled to compensation in the event of a canceled or delayed flight.
As stated earlier, you are entitled to compensation if your flight is canceled or if it is delayed. This has been recorded and you will have to deal with fixed amounts on top of reimbursement for, for example, a hotel, food/drinks, extra transport, new airline tickets, etc. How much you will be reimbursed and when depends on a number of factors. Below you will find the conditions and compensation in a handy table for delayed flights:
Flight lengthDelay on arrival Compensation per passenger1500 km or less More than 3 hours 250 eurosWithin EU more than 1500 km
OR
Other flight between 1500 – 3500 km More than 3 hours 400 eurosMore than 3500 km Between 3 – 4 hours 300 eurosMore than 3500 km More than 4 hours 600 euros
The compensation lapses in the event of force majeure. Force majeure includes the following:
If your flight is cancelled, you are also entitled to compensation. This compensation depends on a number of things and the amount depends on the length of the flight and the delay caused by the cancellation.

The compensation expires if:
If you have ever had to deal with a canceled flight, you also know that there are numerous players in the market who can help you recover the compensation you are entitled to. Unfortunately, this comes with a price:they take 25% of the compensation as a thank you for the mediation. So if you are entitled to compensation of 600 euros, you will ultimately only receive 450 euros. If you are traveling with a family of four, you will have to pay 600 euros to the mediator. That is not possible and not necessary at all! You are entitled to free compensation without the intervention of a mediator!
How? Very simple! If you have legal expenses insurance, you can contact your insurance company. You pay a monthly contribution for this and a canceled or delayed flight is also covered by this insurance. This allows you to put those 25% costs in your own pocket!
The legal expenses insurance does not charge an extra percentage for this. They take all the work off your hands and ensure that you are reimbursed for all costs and compensation incurred. As a result, you put that 25% in your own pocket (a nice bonus, because with that you can go on holiday again next time).
Of course you have to take a number of things into account:
Do not immediately be put off if your insurance indicates that this is not possible. Here they also had to think twice about whether they could help, but in the end this turned out to be the case. The sum has now been drawn up and my daughter and her father are entitled to:
How much it will eventually be is not quite sure yet. The insurance company has contacted the airline and they can always throw it at force majeure. In any case, the ticket costs and transport costs must be paid.
It may be faster with a mediator, but paying 25% of the compensation is considerable. This while you can do it for free with your own insurance company!
Did you know that you are entitled to free compensation for a canceled flight through your legal expenses insurance?
