We currently have two dogs and a cat. All three have immigrated with us from Suriname and have their own story.
My American stafford has been given the name Daisy. At first she was called Bello, but I didn't think that would fit. Suddenly I came up with the name Daisy and that name completely fits her sweet character. Our daughter's dog is called Minnie. She has had the dog for about five years now and then all the animals in the house were given the name of a Disney character.
Our son's tomcat is called Julian. When we adopted him from the shelter, his name was Andy (named after a character from the Toy Story movie), but our son didn't like that name. In 2010, however, he was fond of the books of The Five and there was a certain Julian in them. So Andy was renamed Julian. The name really suits him too.
