Indeed, be aware that if the towels have a musty smell, it is because the children forget to hang them on the towel dryer.
As a result, they don't dry fast enough and you end up with towels that stink and give off a musty smell...
To get rid of that bad musty smell, I first tried washing them using more fabric softener…
Bad choice ! By increasing the dose of fabric softener, chemical residues accumulate on the fibers of the fabric.
As a result, the towels lose their absorbency and stink even more. And this, even after washing!

- 250 ml of white vinegar
- 100 g baking soda
1. Put your bath towels in the washing machine.
2. Choose the hottest wash temperature (look at the label on the towel to find the maximum temperature).
3. Pour the white vinegar into the powder compartment WITHOUT adding any detergent or fabric softener.
4. Once the cycle is complete, do a 2nd hot cycle machine, but this time with the baking soda (and nothing else).
5. As soon as the cycle is finished, dry your towels in the dryer or spread out in direct sunlight.
There you go, now your towels are like new and smell clean again :-)
Easy, fast and efficient, right?
Before folding and storing them, be aware that bath towels must be completely dry .
Otherwise, the musty smell may reappear!
This trick works for all clothes that have a musty smell, especially swimsuits that have not dried well after the pool.
