Need to raise the pH of your pool?
It's true that a swimming pool must maintain a pH between 7.2 and 7.8.
Neither too acidic nor too alkaline! Otherwise there are risks to your health...
Indeed, if the pH is too low, you risk itchy skin and itchy red eyes.
But don't bother buying a pH corrector!
Not only is it not cheap, but it's also not really natural...
The trick to raise the pH of your pool naturally is to use baking soda . Watch:
1. Test the pH of your pool with test strips.
2. If it is too low (below 7.2), add 1.5 to 2 kg of bicarbonate to bring it back to a level between 7.2 and 7.8.
Note: these pool chemistry measurements are based on a pool of approximately 40 m3. If your pool is smaller or larger, you will need to adjust the amounts of bicarbonate.
3. Put the baking soda in the pool water by making large circles on the surface of the pool to avoid putting everything in one place.
4. Let the baking soda dissolve in the water for at least 6 hours.
5. Turn on the pool pump to disperse the baking soda more easily.
6. After 6 or 24 hours, retest the pH and alkalinity of the water.
7. If the pH is still below 7.2, repeat these steps.
There you go, you have increased the pH of your pool with bicarbonate :-)
Easy, fast and efficient, right?
You don't even need to use an expensive pH corrector!
Thanks to the bicarbonate, you have increased the pH of the pool and you prevent the water from stinging your eyes and attacking your skin.
In addition, it works for the maintenance of all swimming pools:above ground, buried, semi-buried, plastic and even for inflatable pools.
If this is the first time you are doing this kind of treatment, start by pouring only 1/2 or 3/4 of the recommended quantities.
After redoing the test, you can always add more if the level remains too low.
Otherwise you risk adding too much and upsetting the delicate pH balance.
Baking soda is naturally alkaline:it has a pH of 8.
When you put baking soda in your pool water, you automatically increase the pH and alkalinity of the water.
The bicarbonate thus improves the stability of the water and its clarity.
Moreover, it is not for nothing that commercial pH correcting products use bicarbonate in large part in their composition.
By using baking soda directly, you can maintain your pool for a fraction of the cost of these products.
