  • How do you know if you have cockroaches at home?

1. Clear your kitchen of any food residue

Crumbs, small scraps or the slightest food residue are a feast for cockroaches.

With your homemade multi-purpose product, you'll have to roll up your sleeves and polish.

Start by removing all the food from the kitchen.

Clean countertops, the kitchen table, the stove and all surfaces on which you prepare or serve food.

Have you noticed that there are crumbs at the bottom of cupboards and drawers? Empty them completely, vacuum them and clean them thoroughly.

Don't forget the trash cans either. It's time to empty them and clean them from top to bottom.

Let's go to the fridge now. It must be nickel. One of the best ways to clean your fridge is certainly this one.

Finally, clean well under the microwave. You can then clean the inside in 3 minutes by following this technique.

Also remember to empty the crumbs from the toaster.

2. Clean up the rest of the house

On the household side, it's not over. Now you have to remove, clean and shake out all the sofa cushions.

With the vacuum cleaner equipped with its special nozzle, remove the crumbs that have slipped under the cushions without forgetting the cracks and corners of the sofa.

Clean carpets, vacuum and roll them.

Sweep or vacuum floors and mop.

To make it easier, choose a homemade product that does not leave a trace.

3. Sanitize your home

You must prevent water from stagnating in your house or apartment. It might attract cockroaches...

It is therefore necessary to hunt for leaks and look for the smallest puddle under the sink, next to the toilet or at the base of the bathtub.

Open the faucets at every sink and sink in the house. While the water is running, check for small leaks by running your hand or a dry cloth over the mixer base and the siphon under the sink.

If this is the case, it is necessary to intervene by changing the seals and repairing the leak. Do the same with the bathtub.

4. Eliminate Cockroach Hiding Places

The cockroaches are playing hide and seek and you will have to flush out their hiding places.

Go around all the rooms in the house. Carefully inspect cupboards, wardrobes, cupboards, chests of drawers...

It's best to get on all fours to make sure you don't miss anything!

Cockroaches love to hide in bags you put other bags in, piles of old magazines, or cardboard boxes waiting to be recycled.

Open everything, empty the contents and throw away or recycle everything that needs to be.

5. Set up sticky cockroach traps

Trap the whole house by scattering sticky cockroach traps.

You can put it along walls and baseboards, in corners, under sinks and washbasins.

Do not hesitate to put at least ten at once throughout the house or apartment.

6. Inspect the traps

It's not the most pleasant part of our anti-cockroach plan... But it is very useful.

You should regularly go around the traps you have set and note the number of cockroaches found dead in each room.

Why ? Because this strategy allows you to know where there are the most cockroaches, where they come from and to better target your next actions.

7. Kill cockroaches with boric acid

You will now be able to make your homemade cockroach repellent. Don't worry, it's very easy and effective.

You need boric acid and condensed milk.

Simply mix 30 g of boric acid with a little condensed milk (1/10th of the tube) in a container. Mix to make a homogeneous paste. Add a little boric acid if the dough is too liquid or condensed milk if it is crumbly.

Take some in your hands made into small balls, the size of peas.

Put your little balls in bottle caps or stick them directly on the floor or walls. But be careful, as they dry, they are difficult to remove.

Scatter them generously in the places where there are the most cockroaches. They correspond to those where you have found the highest number of trapped cockroaches.

24 hours later, boric acid takes effect and gets rid of cockroaches.

Your boric acid pellets are effective for 6 to 8 months.

Precautions:

- Use gloves to mix.

- These pellets must not be accessible to animals or children.

- Thanks to condensed milk, these very effective pellets will attract cockroaches:no need to put them in rooms where there are no cockroaches.

8. Clean regularly

As soon as you have a meal or snack, clean the areas where you have prepared food and where you have eaten.

Put your food in sealed boxes. Never leave anything lying around:neither food nor dirty dishes.

Empty and take out trash cans and recycling daily.

Wipe off all traces of water, identify where the leak is coming from and repair it.

While hunting cockroaches, try eating out more and don't bring food home.

To help you have a clean house, you can use this great cleaning checklist. You are sure not to forget anything!

9. Invite your neighbors to adopt your anti-cockroach plan

This is not necessarily the easiest part of our strategy.

But it is important that your neighbors also play the game to make the cockroaches disappear from the building.

We'll have to convince them to adopt the same cleanliness as you!

To do this, make them understand that you will never be able to get rid of them if you don't work hand in hand.
