Need to fix a zipper temporarily before you can change it?
Sometimes the zipper is stuck. Sometimes it's the zipper that's broken or the teeth that no longer grip.
Here are 5 simple (no need to be a great handyman) but effective tricks to repair a zipper.
Is your zipper difficult to open or close? Or is it completely blocked? The solution is the pencil.
The pencil contains graphite which loosens the zippers. If you "color" your zipper, it will come unstuck.

If the pull tab is broken, you can use a paper clip to easily replace it. You can still use a safety pin.

If the shuttle no longer jams, your zipper will spend its time coming down. We won't stop all day telling you "the little bird is going to come out"! So, quickly grab your key ring and pull out a ring!

Do you notice that your zipper teeth are no longer hooking together? See if they are straight. Straighten them gently, with a toothpick for example.
Once they are straightened, you should be able to close your zipper. If it still does not close, you need to change the zipper.
Sometimes the shuttle comes straight out of the zipper. There is a trick to put it back in its place:
- place your shuttle perpendicular to the teeth of the zipper,
- slide the outer part of the shuttle between 2 teeth and force to insert one,
- once the first tooth is in, turn to put the shuttle back in the right direction,
- gently go up to hook a few more teeth,
- straighten the teeth that moved when you forced,
- lower the shuttle back to the base, forcing a little.
If the trick does not work, the teeth are too damaged or the shuttle is broken. In this case, you need to change the zipper.
