To notch the siding to fit the trim over the door, measure the length and location of the trim. Use a jigsaw to make this cut. Set the notched log in place. Nail the tongue into the wall bolt.
From this point, one more full log is secured above the door. The rest of the third wall, and the entire fourth wall, is simply a straight board installation.
To create the wall shelves, use the saw to cut 4' long sections of the log siding. Cut two standard 4' from 2 x 4 stock. Finally, cut 1" dowel rods to 7" lengths.
Place 2 x 4 standards on the wall 2 feet apart. Secure it to the wall with 3" wood screws. Using a screw inside, check for plumb, then attach to each high point of the rounded wood siding.
Use a 1" Forstner bit to drill four holes in each standard. Each hole should be 3/4" deep to hold the rods. Next, apply wood glue to the holes and to the end of the rods and insert it into the holes. Connect with a hammer as needed.
Use a small wood drill bit to drill through the center of the dowel rods. Place a 4' shelf on top of the rods, securing a 1' overhang on each end.
Put a torpedo level on the shelf and adjust it. Attach to rods with 2" screws.
