When talking about decoration and interior design, I have noticed that the emphasis is often on the wall covering and the floor, but very rarely on the ceiling. Hence this article.
Before choosing the ceiling of my new house, I had no idea that many criteria were going to be involved in the selection of this upper part of a room. Already, before making your choice, it is necessary to define the type of ceiling corresponding most to the architecture of the room. And there, many options are thus left to the owners.
First there is the French ceiling which is easily recognizable thanks to its very apparent wooden frame. I fell in love with the authentic and warm cachet brought by this model, especially when the wood retains its natural color. That's why I installed them in my attic. Otherwise, concerning my living room, in order to preserve the authenticity of this old room, I preferred a staff ceiling with rosettes as a pattern. Be careful, entrust the installation of this type of ceiling only to a professional plasterer. In modern houses, it is the ceilings with glass roof that are on the rise.
But did you know that false ceilings are currently fashionable? This dressing is especially in high demand for its aesthetic side. This is very effective for elegantly masking an unsightly and dilapidated ceiling. In addition, false ceilings are excellent sound and heat insulators and are suitable for all rooms in the house, whatever their style.
Once the structure has finally been defined, the next step is to determine its coating. Here too the possibility is as wide as it is diversified and it is all a matter of taste. Nevertheless, some parameters will have to be considered in the selection of the clothing of this surface. What about the ceiling material? Wood, concrete or even PVC panelling…
You will also have to take into account its general condition. It is only from there that the choice of the coating can be made. If I take my experience as an example, I favored painting in the kitchen and the bathroom. Indeed, as these places are constantly subjected to heat and humidity, the paint resists marvelously well to external aggressions. In addition, with this type of coating I managed to achieve a sense of enlargement in these rooms.
Otherwise, in the bedrooms, to change from the classic plasterboard, I let myself be tempted by paneling. Very decorative, this ceiling covering is available in a very wide range of patterns, colors and materials. Finally, for the entrance, I allowed myself some fantasies with a polyurethane ceiling tile. At the same time light, easy to install, but above all sold at affordable prices, this coating is also very decorative.
