A tree that comes to you from the Appalachian mountains in the United States, the false acacia was imported to French soil in the sixteenth century by Jean Robin, the father of the very famous botanist of Henri IV, Vespasien Robin.
It is in homage to this illustrious character that the Swedish naturalist Carl Von Linné decided to scientifically name the tree:Robinia pseudoacacia . Being able to reach 30 meters in length, the trunk of the false acacia is of a thin diameter compared to other trees of the same species. With deciduous foliage, the false acacia loses all of its leaves in autumn.
Moreover, its magnificent green leaves gradually tend towards the young as the autumn period approaches. Giving off a pleasant sweet and fresh fragrance, the white flowers of the false acacia are both hermaphroditic and melliferous.
Soil and ideal exposure: for the false acacia, favor especially sunny and not windy sites, preferably with sandy soil rich in limestone, but well drained.
