The Christmas jitters are increasing among the Dutch. The idea of the cozy holidays, which we prefer to celebrate at home with family, Christmas music and good food, gives such a positive feeling that more and more people have been working on it since November. Almost 1/3 already has the Christmas jitters before the Sinterklaas party. In addition to the Christmas tree, the undisputed symbol of the Christmas spirit, music is also important. 60% of Dutch people listen to Christmas carols on the radio and almost 1/3 of them already start playing this in mid-November. This is shown by research by Talpa Radio.
80% of the Dutch put up a Christmas tree every year, half of which make it easy for themselves by getting a permanent one from the storage room or from the attic. Setting up the Christmas tree is an important ritual and, just like decorating the house, contributes to the Christmas feeling. We prefer to spend the holidays with family, relaxing in casual clothes, some in a special Christmas sweater, that is a trend that comes over from America. Gourmet is a favorite for Christmas dinner, 37% prefer to sit next to the gourmet set.
