We want to have functional, pretty furniture and, if possible, at a reasonable price. This is all the more true when you are renting, since you tell yourself that you are not investing in the long term. What if it was soon possible to rent your furniture, just like you can rent your phone or your car? In any case, this is the path that the Swedish furniture giant, Ikea, wants to explore.
According to Jesper Brodin, managing director of the firm, who spoke at the Economic Forum in Davos:"Buyers no longer feel the need to own the product and now worry about the environmental impact when they dispose of it". . We don't yet know when the concept of furniture rental will be launched, or whether it will be the same everywhere (depending on the country, the rental could for example concern one category of furniture rather than another), but the brand affirms:there is a real expectation on the part of consumers. In addition, in Japan, Ikea should offer to collect sofas from consumers in order to recycle them. The idea? Create a circular consumption model, where goods do not end up in the trash when they are no longer needed, but are recycled and reused. We can only approve!
