A clogged sink is one of the unforeseen events that is easy to manage on your own. Many clogs can indeed be easily removed, without even having to dismantle the plumbing system. Before you start doing big jobs for nothing, boil a large pot of water. Pour boiling water (watch out for splashing) into your sink or clogged sink. In many cases, this will be enough to dissolve the clog, made up of soap residues and various small waste. At least if the cork is not too big...
If boiling water does not work, consider other solutions. The most effective is certainly the use of a chemical unblocker. The principle:pour the quantity of product indicated on the instructions into the clogged sink or washbasin. Be very careful when handling such substances. In particular, remember to wear protective gloves to avoid burns. Let the product act then run the water... If the sink is obviously still a little clogged, try the plunger. Place the suction cup on the drain:the water should cover the entire rubber part. Pump actively to create a draft. If all goes well, the water will flow completely down the drain:your sink is unclogged.
In the event of a very clogged sink, there are also radical alternatives. Their advantage:no use of chemicals. Their disadvantage:you have to dismantle part of the plumbing... However, these are small jobs, as easy to do as laying tile joints or insulating your windows. Before unscrewing the siphon, remember to put a container just below to collect the water. Do not lose the seal:it will have to be replaced after cleaning the siphon. If, by some bad luck, the plug is not at the level of the siphon, do not panic! Simply run a ferret further down the plumbing system to reach it.
