Giving your interior a new look, that can just turn out to be a 10-year plan. At least with us. Especially if you start thinking about all the details, from curtain rails to skirting boards. Yet you can easily create a new look for your interior. We are now working on new interior doors. A different door immediately provides a completely different view. I am totally in love with steel doors. Now real steel is unaffordable, heavy, and you need special frames for it… but there is also a wonderful alternative:steel look doors.
With a wooden door in a steel look you still get that tough, industrial effect that I'm such a fan of. Also very cool:barn doors. Are you also a fan of a cozy yet slightly tough interior? And are you also ready for new interior doors? Then you will find plenty of inspiration in this blog. Since I am busy devising the changes in our own new house, I would like to take you into the contemplation.

For many people, it's something they hardly think about. Your interior doors. When moving into a new home, you are often more concerned with which color should be on the wall than which inner door is actually in the frame. Below you will find our interior doors. I really don't like them, they're way too old-fashioned. Now I can paint them, of course, but that doesn't change the classic look of the door, while I would rather have it modern/industrial.
With the move to our new (but somewhat older) house, we decide to tackle everything thoroughly. And I mean everything. Not only the wall and the floor, but also the interior doors. In fact, they are quite decisive for the appearance of your house. Moreover, by choosing certain doors, you can create more light, for example, or an idea of space.
Have you ever replaced the interior doors? If you don't hit it too hard, those things will last a lifetime. Still, I don't think it's a superfluous luxury to take a critical look at it here. By choosing certain doors (with a lot of glass) you automatically get more light into the house. Moreover, you create a spacious feeling with it, which is very different from completely closed doors. And I like space and light 😉 . My first favorite? Steel look doors that let in a lot of light.
So I can't get enough of steel. From the kitchen to the bathroom:steel looks great everywhere. Steel look doors, which look like steel, but are made of wood, for example. This makes them a lot less heavy, but also a lot less expensive. And that is of course always a plus, because real steel doors cost me a lot of money! In addition, steel doors often have to be hung in a special frame. So if you were to replace your wooden interior doors with steel variants, your frames would probably have to believe it too. The solution:steel look doors. This is how you get that beautiful industrial look without major renovation.
Steel doors, or steel look doors, you can find these in all shapes and sizes and from various suppliers. Most of them are made of wood and will even fit within your standard window frames. It is often the case that the wooden steel look doors have a somewhat wider style than the style that separates the glass panels from each other. These doors are a lot cheaper and can be found in rebated and obtuse versions. You can already find this type of interior doors at the better hardware store, for example. At the Karwei in Schijndel, for example, I saw the Lundia doors and steel look doors from Arne &Bodil, super beautiful.
Steel look doors made of wood can be had from around € 500.00, in contrast to steel doors that certainly cost double or more.
For example, there are also steel look doors that are made of aluminum, such as the one above. With the aluminum variant you generally have more options than with the wooden variant. For example, in a pivot door version, it can turn in both directions and hinge in the frame or in the floor and ceiling.
Also nice about steel:it combines fantastic with wood. And wood gives warmth and an even more cool effect to your industrial interior. There are also steel look doors where the wood returns to the door itself. The steel immediately gives your interior a cool touch, while the wood provides warmth. When you combine the materials, it can create a very nice effect!
Totally hip and super cool, but also romantic and authentic. Barn doors are totally trendy, and I'm really in love with them. A barn door is a kind of barn door that you can slide open or closed via a rail. Also a real asset to the cool interior!
You can purchase a barn door in all kinds of different types of wood, but have you ever thought about making such an industrial sliding door yourself? In the first week of our move, I found a door like this for free via Marktplaats. This is now in the shed 'waiting' until we start working on the renovation in the living room. Then I will sand it down and paint it and I will also have a homemade barn door in addition to my steel look doors!
