The principle is simple:

1. Find your stain type on the guide.

2. Follow the directions trick.

3. Finally, wash your fabric in the washing machine , respecting the washing instructions.

DRINK STAINS

Coffee stains

Hold the stained fabric over a large bowl and carefully pour boiling water over it, about 30cm from the surface.

For a latte stain: then rub the surface with a cloth soaked in turpentine or other solvent.

For a coffee stain containing sugar: also rub the stain with a homemade stain remover (25 cl white vinegar + 25 cl warm water + 2 tablespoons baking soda). Leave on for 30 minutes before machine washing.

Fruit juice stains

Prepare soapy water (1 tablespoon of dishwashing liquid in 25 cl of water). Apply to stained area and rub gently to remove stain.

For more stubborn stains: gently rub the stained area with a white cloth soaked in an ammonia solution (1 part ammonia to 2 parts water).

Red wine stains

Cover the stained area with salt. Hold the stained fabric over a large bowl and carefully pour boiling water over it, about 30cm from the surface.

White wine stains

Run cold water over the stain and spray soapy water on it. Gently dab with your usual detergent.

FOOD STAINS

Red fruit spots

Use a small plastic spoon to scrape off most of the stain. Then, soak the stained area with this mixture:½ teaspoon of dishwashing liquid in 10 cl of hydrogen peroxide. Rinse with clear water.

Chocolate stains

Scrape off most of the chocolate and spray soapy water on the stained area. Apply a little detergent and gently dab on it.

Note: soapy water =1 tablespoon of dishwashing liquid + 25 cl of water

Chewing gum stains

Rub with an ice cube to harden. Then scrape with a plastic spoon to remove most of the chewing gum.

For residue, rub with glycerine or other lubricant and scrape again. For stubborn residue, dab gently with dishwashing liquid.

Ice spots

Rinse thoroughly with cold water and spray the stained area with homemade stain remover. Then, soak the fabric in cold water with a little detergent.

SAUCES AND CONDIMENTS STAIN

Tomato sauce stains

Scrape the stained area to remove most of the sauce. Then, spray with soapy water and rub gently. Use a damp cloth to remove residue. For stubborn stains, rub the stain with a few drops of white vinegar.

Mustard stains

Thoroughly rinse the stained area with white vinegar. Then, spray with soapy water and rub gently. Leave on for 15 min.

Ketchup stains

Soak the stain with homemade stain remover. If the stain persists, scrub with a clean toothbrush and a little white vinegar to lighten the stained area.

Dressing stains

Sprinkle cornstarch on the stained area. Let sit for the starch to absorb the oil, then rinse with cold water. Soak the stain with homemade stain remover and leave to act for 15 min.

Lay your fabric on a clean piece of paper towel, stained side down. Pour nail polish remover over the stain, gently rubbing it from underneath. Replace the Sopalin regularly to absorb the liquid. Repeat until the stain disappears, and rinse with cold water.

Note: do not use this trick on synthetic fibers like rayon.

Foundation stains

With a cotton swab, apply rubbing alcohol to the stained area. Then rub gently with a piece of cotton. Repeat the alcohol applications until the stain disappears.

Lipstick stains

Apply hairspray to the stained area, and leave on for 10 minutes. Use a damp cloth to clean the stain and any residue.

Grass stains

Apply homemade stain remover and leave for 15 minutes. Scrub the stained area with a clean toothbrush to work in the stain remover.

Pen stains

Apply Vaseline all around the stained area to prevent it from spreading. Rub the stain with rubbing alcohol and a clean toothbrush. Then, rub the stain with cotton soaked in turpentine. Let dry. Apply soapy water before machine washing.

For permanent marker stains, use hand sanitizer gel.

Paint stains

Use paper towel to clean up dry residue from acrylic paint or water-based paint. Using a sponge, soak the stained area with a mixture of detergent and hot water. Leave on until the paint softens, and scrape gently with a spoon. Rinse with clear water. Repeat until the stain disappears.

FOR CRACRA TRICKS

Poo stains

Scrape off the larger one with a plastic knife. Turn the fabric over and rinse thoroughly in cold water, from below the stain. Then, soak the fabric for 30 minutes in hot water mixed with detergent.

To fully disinfect: wash with hot water and use this homemade bleach (3 l of water, 6 cl of lemon juice, 25 cl of hydrogen peroxide).

Bloodstains

For a blood stain that is still wet: soak the fabric in water. Then, use a Cotton Swab to rub the stain with a little ammonia.

For a blood stain that has dried: soak the fabric in salt water for a few hours. Rinse with clear water. Before putting in the washing machine, apply this mixture:1 part ammonia to 2 parts water.

Vomit stains

Scrape the stained area with a plastic knife to remove the larger ones. Apply homemade stain remover, and leave to act for 30 min.

To fully disinfect: wash with hot water and use this homemade bleach (3 l of water, 6 cl of lemon juice, 25 cl of hydrogen peroxide).

Perspiration stains

For sweaty spots: massage the stained area with shampoo.

For stubborn stains: make a paste with 4 capsules of lactic ferments and 1 tablespoon of water. Apply the paste to the stained area before machine washing.

Stains of infant milk

Rub the formula-stained area with your usual laundry detergent. Then, soak the fabric in water for several hours before machine washing.

Yellow shirt collars

Apply homemade stain remover to yellowed shirt collars.

Whiten newer stains by rubbing them with ammonia. For stubborn stains, use white vinegar. Rinse with clear water.
