For many of us, cleaning is synonymous with using 'bleach.
Yet it has long been recognized that the use of bleach carries health risks.
Bleach is a source of many allergies and can cause severe asthma problems.
And when you mix bleach with other household products, it can be downright catastrophic!
For example, if you mix bleach with ammonia, it creates a gas that can affect the functioning of your lungs.
And since urine contains ammonia, it's best to avoid using bleach to clean the toilet!
If you mix bleach with simple washing-up liquid, it will produce mustard gas.
Yes, yes, we are talking about the poison gas used during the First World War.
The one that caused severe chemical burns, conjunctivitis, temporary blindness, bleeding and blisters in the respiratory system.
Not cool, is it?
Mixed with organic matter... bleach produces chloroform.
Inhaling chloroform vapors attacks the nervous system, causing dizziness, fatigue, and can even knock you out.
Prolonged exposure has serious consequences on organs such as the liver, kidneys and skin.
So what can we use instead of bleach? Easy!
- 2 liters of water
- 60 ml lemon juice
- 240 ml of hydrogen peroxide
1. Mix water, lemon juice and hydrogen peroxide in a bucket.
2. Put this mixture in a bottle with a spray.
