Chimney fires are very nice.
But it's not just the logs that are flaming. There is also the price of wood!
I know a practical and ingenious trick to heat myself for free at home. I use a paper log compactor.
The log compactor, also called briquette press , allows you to collect old newspapers and make logs for the fireplace.
1. Take 1 to 4 newspapers.
2. Soak them in water.
3. Drop them in the log compactor.
4. Squeeze the 2 handles to drain the water.
5. Wait a few days for the log to dry completely.
There you go, you have made economical paper logs with your old newspapers :-)
The big advantage of these paper briquettes, you can keep them for 6 to 12 months in a dry place.
The log compactor is an ingenious solution to save on wood and heating by reusing old newspapers.
Know that the paper logs reconstituted with the log compactor will give you almost 2 hours burning. Not bad, right?
Last thing, the calorific value of these paper logs is much higher than that of dry wood or coal, with around 4,000 Kcal.
