Ironing is an activity known by all, but far from being mastered !

Discover all our tips to avoid damaging your clothes with efficient ironing.

These tips come from my grandmother, a true iron specialist. With it, never creases or wrinkled shirts again!

So I decided to ask him his secrets, and here are his answers.

First of all, ironing is a matter of order. Do not rush on the first crease you see. Just follow a few simple rules so as not to have any unpleasant surprises.

For ironing a shirt

It is important to start with the facings of the buttoning (on the wrong side), then continue with the cuffs, the sleeves flat, the collar, the front and finally the back.

For a tie

My grandmother's trick is to place kraft paper inside the two layers. That way, the back seams won't show in the front.

For your pants

Start ironing at the waistband on the reverse, then the pocket bottoms. Turn it right side out to make the top of the pants by rotating the top-on pants on the ironing board.

For a straight skirt

Follow the same procedure as for the pants:first iron the waistband inside out, then the bottom of the pockets, continue on the flat seams on your turned skirt, and finish with the hem right side up.

Bonus tip

In addition, it may happen that your iron is a little old and hangs on your carefully kept clothes.

Don't panic, my grandmother still has a natural solution for this type of problem!

Indeed, when your iron tends to stick, you must rub the hot soleplate of the iron with a piece of dry soap, before wiping it with newspaper.

And, for even more glide, remember to regularly clean the soleplate of your iron with a little salt.

Savings achieved

These few tricks from my grandmother won't save you thousands and cents, I admit it, but it's always a pleasure to find your things clean and in good condition.

You will still save a little on your electricity bill because with his advice you will iron faster.

On the other hand, you will increase the life of your clothes thanks to an iron that glides better and a shorter ironing time.
