Which room to take care of the laundry?

As my old apartment had become too cramped for me, I decided to live in a more spacious house. The move went very well and my next step is the installation of my washing machine.

The laundry room

In my old apartment, the washing machine could only be in the bathroom due to lack of space. But this time, since the house has a small storage room that I will probably never use, I decide to set up a laundry room there. What's more, as this room is far enough from the bedroom, I won't be disturbed by the deafening noise of the washing machine when the appliance is running. You can therefore do laundry there at any time of the day.

However, for my laundry room to be functional, I still have to do some work. Indeed, the room does not yet have a drainage network and a water supply system to connect the equipment. Thus, after obtaining the agreement of my landlord who was more than delighted that I installed a laundry room in his property, the work could begin. And a few days were enough for the plumber to finally have my laundry room.

In addition, to group all the tasks related to the laundry, I also put a drying rack there in the absence of a dryer, as well as a small ironing area, with its washing board.

The bathroom

Unfortunately, small rooms and storage rooms are often lacking in a studio and in an apartment. In this case, there is no other choice except to put the washing machine less than 60 cm wide in the bathroom. However, in my old building, installing the device in the basement was also possible. The only downside? As I lived on the top floor, I couldn't see myself going downstairs all the time I had to do my laundry.

In addition, it must also be recognized that a washing machine in the bathroom remains very practical. For good reason, we undress before the shower or bath, just put the dirty clothes in the laundry basket to wash them afterwards. But if this room is the ideal location to accommodate this type of equipment, it is because regularly subject to humidity, the places generally benefit from good ventilation.

Be careful though, because a minimum distance of 60 centimeters must be observed between the device and the receiving of the shower or the bathtub. Finally, to save space in my small bathroom, I put my washing machine under a high cabinet. And for those who use a dryer at the same time, it is quite possible to stack the two appliances.

What other locations?

But the laundry room and the bathroom are not the only places in a house or apartment that can accommodate a washing machine. Indeed, a couple of friends, for example, housed this accessory in their kitchen in the middle of other household appliances, beautifully hidden under the worktop. The reason ? For the mistress of the house, their bathroom was more a temple of well-being and beauty than a room intended for hygiene. A noisy machine like the washing machine was therefore out of place.

Otherwise during the construction of their accommodation, they have already pre-chosen the location of the equipment since there is no water evacuation system for emptying in the other rooms of their place of residence. dwelling. Otherwise, for people who have a garage, this place can very easily be converted into a laundry room, provided it is an enclosed and well insulated space. Also out of sight in a garage, a washing machine is not likely to stain the decoration.
