My Melrose, finally!

The Melrose at the Tree Days of St Jean du Gard, the return.

7 growers to find a Melrose apple tree in tip. Whatever, I have it! owl ! I discovered this apple in the orchard of the Jardiniers de France head office in Valenciennes, since I worked there for 6 years. So I had time to taste and appreciate this apple. It is an old variety, yellow streaked with red, slightly acidulous, good what!

And apple on the cake – there is no more cherry – the apple tree is grafted onto M 7! Here are its characteristics that I noted on the site:http://www.les-vergers-retrouves-du-comminges.org/Les-porte-greffes,1151,fr.html

Moderately vigorous, tolerant of drought and humidity. Fairly rapid and fairly abundant fruit set, good fruit quality, insensitive to phytophtora, not very sensitive to fire blight. Must be tutored. Recommended for trees of medium development.

Everything I needed for my clayey land in Gard where summer drought precedes Cévennes episodes flooding the land.

The site lists the main rootstocks for apple, pear, cherry and plum trees. It remains to know on which tree your future acquisition is grafted... Which is not necessarily specified on the label.
