People who live in the city have been less satisfied with their living situation since the corona crisis than people outside the city. However, a massive departure to the province is not yet forthcoming. This is evident from research by Funda. Although only one in ten respondents say that the corona crisis affects their housing preferences, the research shows that the current situation does indeed bring changes.
Living space and garden significantly more important Since the corona crisis and the associated restrictive measures, the living space and outdoor space of a home have become even more important. For example, residents of an apartment are less satisfied with their living situation compared to residents of a house.
Rather together than alone
Although most Dutch people spent much more time at home together in the past two months, this has no negative influence on satisfaction with their living situation. In fact, people who live together are generally more positive than people who live alone. Nevertheless, there is still something to be desired in multi-person households:there has been a growing need for an extra room among this group since the corona crisis.
The influence of working from home
The majority of respondents expect that they will work from home more in the long term than before the corona crisis. However, this currently has little influence on how satisfied people are with their living situation or on the importance of the travel distance to the office.
