Sometimes it happens that you have to move very quickly and unexpectedly. That can be very annoying and cause a lot of stress, bringing you to a point where you don't know what to do anymore. That is why we have listed 8 tips here to make a quick move easier, faster and less stressful.
1. Get organized. Make a list of things that need to be done before the move, such as booking the right movers, filling out change of address forms, collecting necessary documents, etc. Also make a timeline for when you need to get these things done so you don't are forced to do it all at the last minute.
2. Have all the supplies you need, such as boxes, tape, marker, etc. You can always return what you don't need. You don't want to leave the house when you are packing and find that you have forgotten something.
3. Use colored tape or stickers to mark which boxes go to which rooms. Be sure to position the boxes so you know what's inside, even when they're stacked.
4. Pack smart. Use pouches to store small items from drawers and to store screws or wires. Store kitchen knives in potholders so they don't poke through boxes. Use clothes and towels instead of bubble wrap and store small items in larger ones if possible. Place your special valuables such as passports in a separate bag or box that you keep with you.
5. Get help from friends. Packing for an impending move can be overwhelming, but especially in the case of a heartbreak, having friends around can make a lot of things easier.
6. Hire movers, even if you have a few friends on hand. Professional movers can make the move quicker, less stressful, and less likely to damage your furniture, valuables, or the walls you move them from (in and out).
7. Pack a “last/first night” bag and an “open first” box. Make sure they include clothes and toiletries, and that first morning make sure you have the basics such as toilet paper, bottled water, plastic utensils, coffee maker and filters, phone charger and cleaning products.
8. Take before/after photos of your valuables and your homes. This can be used to prove damage has occurred during a move, but can also be useful when repositioning furniture and reconnecting electronics in a new place.
