I remember the days of analog cameras. You buy a roll of film and when the roll is full, you take it to the photo shop to have it developed. At home you put the photos in a photo album, which you regularly leaf through. At least, that's how it starts. To be honest, I have more envelopes with photos than full photo albums. The arrival of the digital camera was therefore a blessing for me! The only thing less fun about that is that the photos (at least with me) stay on the camera, mobile phone and laptop, and I look at them every now and then. It never even occurred to me that I could also make a photo album of these photos. Until I received an email if I wanted to make a photo book at Het Fotoalbum, and wanted to write my experiences in an article. After some hesitation, I decided to give it a try. Isn't it much easier to show your photos to your family and friends in a photo album than to scroll through your mobile phone?
This is how you get started
On the website of Het Fotoalbum you go to make photo album. You can choose from different shapes:
Landscape, square and portrait. It is also possible to choose a hard or soft cover, or a spiral binding. And this in several formats. I opted for a soft cover. To actually get started with the album, you can download software to create the album. This is especially necessary for a large photo book which can take a lot of time. That way you can always pick up where you left off. For a smaller size you can make the album on the website yourself. I chose the softcover portrait photo book L, which you can make online.
Start with the album
Before you start, it's a good idea to know which photos you want in the album. You can easily upload these photos in the design section and drag them from there to the album. It is also possible to insert text, which you can format in different fonts, sizes, alignments, colors and much more. I chose the kankin font. After all the photos were added, I checked the album again to see if all the fonts were the same and changed a few things. You always overlook something.
When you are ready, you can click on order. If you do that you will get a result of the check. If you have forgotten something, it will be placed there and you can adjust it if necessary. Even if there are photos that are not good, you are advised to adjust them.
Cons
There is (at least I haven't seen it) f.a.q. where you can look in between if you don't know something. If you want to choose a different type of photo book if you've already created the album, you can't. At least not with the online software. You can log in again and take a new format, but your photos are not visible. So make the right choice right from the start. If you click on change product, only the format changes. Then you also have to adjust the texts. I clicked on this a few times and had to make the font smaller each time. Since I don't have that much patience, I finally left it that way and placed the order. After you press the order button, the address details will appear, and then you can choose the type of paper. Then the order is definitively placed, and it will be confirmed in an email. And now waiting for my first photo book to arrive.
The result
On the website it is stated that the delivery time is 5 working days. I ordered it on Monday and got an email a few hours after ordering that my photo book was on its way. Unfortunately this was not correct and I received the photo book the following Thursday. So if you also want to order a photo book as a gift, for example, take into account the duration of the delivery. But the result turned out beautiful. The photo book is of high quality and has a good finish that is made in such a way that the cover does not come off easily. I will definitely make more photo albums.
