I have loved velvet, ever since I was a kid. We used to have such a fantastic light pink velvet sofa with those twisted fringes at the bottom. It was comfortable and felt even better! That sofa has always stayed with me and now that the velvet trend is picking up again, I couldn't resist implementing some of my velvet fetishism in our own interior in the form of an armchair in pink velvet and 2 chairs for the dressing tables in our house. .

I am completely happy with our delicious armchair with velor upholstery for the living room. In fact, it was ordered 'on the growth', with a view to the renovation that we would like to do in the living room again. Since we cannot estimate exactly how long the renovation will take, I thought that the chair would have to be fixed. This way I can put this velvet armchair next to the stove in the coming winter! The chair also comes from the Jesper Home collection, which has many more special armchairs in the collection, velvet and non-velvet.
I don't think the Fauteuil Rebun Pink fits very well with the current floor (and skirting boards), but we will also say goodbye to that in the future. I got the skull above it from our annual fair, isn't it a beauty?
If you happened to read my blog about making a photo collage, then you also noticed in that photo that we have more velvet in our house than just this armchair. I have also had an ocher yellow couch at home for a while. One of our cat's favorite places to lie down. In addition, we had velor curtains in our previous house, just like my parents used to have.
I think the best thing about velor in the house is the warm and luxurious look it gives, whether you choose an armchair or curtains made of this fabric. Precisely because we have a fairly industrial and modern taste, I think such a velvet armchair is a wonderful addition. In addition, velor comes in the most beautiful retro shades, which I also love about the combination with industrial.
For the living room I had an old pink armchair in velvet in my head and for the bedrooms near the dressing table I actually wanted nice dark green velvet. The approach would be to buy two velvet dining room chairs that Lotte could have in her room by the dressing table and one for myself. Only Lotte insisted on pink (huh where did that come from?). Since she found the perfect chair at Allestoel.nl -in the color pink- and you order it per 2, I took the plunge. So I also have a pink velvet chair in my bedroom, for the dressing table that has yet to come.
A velvet armchair or a velvet sofa also has disadvantages. The cool look that you get with velor furniture is immediately gone when you get a thick stain on your armchair or sofa. I almost had a heart attack when Luc took 4 advanced adolescents home during a break last week and one of them sat down in 'my' velvet chair to eat a filet americain sandwich.
Fortunately, everything went well, but a stain on velor upholstery must be treated with care:
In addition to making it more difficult to remove stains, it is also a fact that velor can wear out at some point. Just like any other material, of course. But because velor has a somewhat long-haired appearance, the wear of it will probably be more visible than with another fabric.
However, the disadvantages do not outweigh the advantages for me, so I am very happy with our velvet armchair and the two dining room chairs that we use as dressing table chairs. Photo of the latter will follow, when I show more of the dressing table!
Do you have something made of velvet at home, an armchair, a bench or something else?
