New at Ikea:Circular Hub. A place where furniture is resold, repaired, repackaged, disassembled or recycled – and where customers can find inspiration in the field of sustainability. The Circular Hub – which can be found on the site of the former bargain corner – offers a wide range of second-hand furniture.
The Circular Hub sells products that have been used as a show model, damaged or returned. You can also find furniture that has been returned via the Furniture trade-in service. Through this service, IKEA buys back furniture that is still in good condition from customers for a discounted amount. This service was tested last year and was liked by many customers.
This furniture is refurbished if necessary and can be recognized by the 'second chance' label. In addition, the Circular Hub contains spare parts, such as screws and table legs. All ways to extend the life of products. IKEA also hopes to inspire its customers by demonstrating sustainable processes such as repacking, (dis)assembling and recycling waste.
What many people do not know, for example, is that 75% of the waste in the stores is recycled. That's something IKEA wants to show its customers. In the future, the Swedish store in the Circular Hub also wants to interact with customers. This can be done by collaborating with local organizations and facilitating sessions about sustainability and circularity.
The Circular Hub is where the bargain corner used to be. All items listed here have a special price. On the ticket you will not only find the discount, but also the reason why the discount is given. Think of minor damage, a scratch or an item that is out of the range.
You can simply take small items to the checkout. For a large article you have to approach an employee, so that you get help.

Of course, Ikea cannot store all the furniture they receive in the Circular Hub. However, because Ikea wants to become more sustainable and throw away as little as possible, they are now entering into a collaboration with Het Goed. They in turn ensure that as little as possible is lost, but that it is resold in a responsible manner. With 28 branches throughout the country, it is the largest thrift chain in the Netherlands.

Ikea is taking more and more steps to be climate positive by 2030. The first step was taken with the option of handing in old furniture. Then came the project where old jeans were used to make sofa covers.
Now another step in the right direction has been taken by creating the Circular Hub. And so we are working hard to ensure that by 2030 all IKEA products are made according to circular design principles – from renewable and recycled materials.
