The problem is that they are very power-hungry devices.
To save money, a very simple solution is available to us:defrosting in the open air.

Just plan ahead!
Even if it's true that we don't always decide in advance what we're going to eat, it's a good habit to get into.
When you prepare your shopping list, you plan menus for the whole week and check what is in your reserves.
This organization allows you to know what you are going to prepare for dinner, you just have to consult your menus to put the right foods to defrost the day before.
Yes, but using which methods?
Perfect for all foods that do not represent health hazards:vegetables, fruits, whole pieces of meat, aromatic herbs... This is the method that takes the most time, but also the one that best preserves the food. Be careful, this trick does not work for minced steaks.
In a container, pour lukewarm water and immerse the food in it for as long as necessary. It varies according to the size of the piece to be defrosted. A little faster, this process also protects the food. Scallops or fish work well, provided they are cooked immediately.
Place your food to be defrosted under a film in the fridge, for gentle and safe defrosting. Ideal for fish, burgers and all other cold chain foods, such as fish, eggs, foie gras, animal products and prepared foods in general. Otherwise, it's guaranteed turista!
Of course, we save a little energy, but not only.
Foods that go in the microwave lose their flavor and especially their nutritional qualities.
Worse, they begin to cook while defrosting.
Meat, for example, loses its tenderness due to this thermal shock and the process used by the microwave.
Defrosting food without a microwave is therefore a preferred method for our taste pleasure, our health and our wallet...
