Drill a hole in the center of each book the size of the diameter of a large dowel. Do the same under the table top, in the center.
Stack the books, line up the holes and twist as pictured. Insert the dowel into the holes. Attach the tray to the trunnion.

For this, cut a piece of a cork roll that fits the circumference of the lamp base and its height. Don't forget to make a small notch in the back to pass the power cord through if necessary.
Attach the cork sheet to the base, with hot glue, smoothing down and around the lamp base. Cut out a circle for the top of the foot and attach it with hot glue.
