1. Is this item yours?

Does this item belong to you? No ? So don't throw it away.

Also, if you're not the only one using it, always ask other users' opinions before getting rid of it.

2. If this item belongs to you, have you used it in the last 3 months?

- If you have used this item in the last 3 months, it is likely to be useful to you and in good working order. In that case, keep it.

- If you haven't used an item for more than three months, that item may have become useless.

Then ask yourself if it is a seasonal item. If so, skip to question #6.

This object does not have a seasonal use? Proceed to the next questions.

3. Is this object that you haven't used for 3 months in good or bad condition?

- If you keep something broken or in such bad condition that you can't use it, ask yourself this question:are you going to fix it? If not, give it to a recycling center or throw it away.

- If you think you're going to fix it, set yourself a deadline to complete the repair. If you still haven't had it repaired after this date, get rid of this useless item.

Unless it's a gift to which you attach sentimental value.

4. Is this item a gift?

- If it is a gift, does it have sentimental value? Is the person who gave it to you important to you? If not, donate or recycle this item.

- If you consider that this object that you have not used for a long time has sentimental value, keep it preciously.

5. Is this item useful?

Here is an object that is not a gift, that is in good condition and that you have not touched for months...

And yet this object works perfectly... So, ask yourself why you don't use it anymore!

If it has become useless, you must get rid of it.

If it has other uses, then keep it.

6. If you haven't used it in the last 3 months, is it because it's a seasonal item (umbrella, sledge, raclette machine, etc.)?

- If it is indeed an object for seasonal use, then it may still be useful. There is indeed little chance that you will use your raclette machine in the middle of summer!

- But still ask yourself if you still really need this object. For example, do you still need that old barbecue, even though you bought a new one last year? Of this bike that has become too small? Or this pair of skis from the 80s?

No ? So, give them away or resell them. Yes ? Keep them.

They may still be useful to you. Provided that these objects are in good working order.

7. If this seasonal item is not in good condition, will you fix it?

- If the answer is no, then give it to a recycling center.

- If not, set yourself a deadline to fix it. Beyond this date, get rid of this object.

Unless it has sentimental value in its current condition.

8. Is this seasonal item a gift?

Whether this object works or not, ultimately doesn't matter to you. Perhaps it reminds you of a beautiful memory? Or was it given to you by someone dear to you?

In this case, keep it and store it carefully.

But you're probably wondering what to do with all that stuff that's become useless?

No need to throw away the items you no longer want! There are plenty of practical anti-waste tips for donating or recycling objects.

What to do with useless objects?

1. A garment that no longer fits you? A pair of cushions that you can't stand anymore? Curtains you want to change? Remember to offer them to your friends or family! They might be happy to get them back!

2. If the items you no longer want don't find takers around you, consider recycling centers, like this one. It's a great alternative to give a second life to old objects.

3. You can also simply give them to people you don't know through sites like freecycle.org or donnons.org.

4. Emmaus networks are also an excellent option. They recover your old objects, retype them and resell them in their shops. All this while helping people in difficulty! They can even come and remove bulky items from your home. Handy, isn't it?

5. What if you made some money with the things you no longer use? Sites like Leboncoin allow you to resell objects that have become useless and earn some money.
