Fashion week is great. But what is it ? And where is it ? And when ? Let's calm down... I'm watching and I'm telling you...
"Fashion week" literally means "fashion week". This is the week when the designers present their new collection to us. So far, it's simple. But it's when I try to understand how it's organized that I start to lose track:there are a lot of famous creators, a lot of cities where these presentations take place, and a lot of dates.
The fashion shows take place in major cities:Paris, Milan, New York and London. Each lasts about a week and takes place twice a year, in February and September. And we have to differentiate ready-to-wear collections from haute couture collections. Ready-to-wear is presented in each of the events while haute couture is only in France 🇫🇷.
Paris fashion week, the one that interests us all the same, takes place from February 24 to March 3, 2020. About sixty designers will unveil their collections there. Sounds a bit like a marathon, doesn't it?
How to find it?
Well I suggest we don't even try to understand. Because ultimately, the subject is not the understanding of this fabulous and dantesque organization, but what we can find there!
Clothing design is an art and designers are artists. They work in 3 dimensions, and in movement. They combine materials, colors, shapes. The work of these fashion designers is very impressive and their creativity limitless. Fashion professionals make their "market" on this occasion. This may seem far from our concerns, for us specialists in wall decoration. But that's not the case:we create images and these fashion shows are great sources of inspiration!
Obviously, the season has just started, but for example, what I saw at Jil Sander is very graphic, with a simple and gracefully choreographed staging. It presents us with a sought-after style in the decoration as well!
And with some of them, it's not easy. There are a few small style effects that are a little obscure to me... not easy to tell you what I find terribly ugly because they are just my tastes 😉 But you? Do you have any reviews?
Yes, we can do it! There is indeed fashion week for design, automobiles… Moreover, each year, the A3P (Association for the Promotion of Wallpaper) presents wallpaper trends. The big names in wallpaper are represented there, and it's a very interesting day of discovery:new products, new materials and wonderful patterns!
Prada presented its beautiful ready-to-wear collection a few days ago in Milan. The places of the fashion shows are always adapted, decorated, to stage the models and the clothes. Prada created a play of lights, using black, white, and red lines. This is a theme that we started working on at home last year with author Anouk Chabert. His creation COURBES DE NIVEAU is a preamble to a collection built around lines.
