For home cooks who love to cook, choosing the right pans can be a challenging decision. You want the cookware set you choose to be versatile enough to cook just about anything, but also to look good. The right set should also be durable, match your cooking style and last a long time. That is quite a task! After doing some research because I was fed up with the drawbacks of my old pans, I decided to replace my cookware set and upgrade to ceramic pans. Specifically, I tried this beautiful pan set from Soenil by ISENVI.
Ceramic pans are finished with a ceramic non-stick coating. This non-stick coating distinguishes these pans from stainless steel, aluminum and other non-stick coatings. The ceramic finish of these pans is free from PTFE and PFOA, as well as other harmful substances. The unique non-stick coating of these pans ensures that the food does not stick.
The non-stick coating also helps to distribute the heat evenly across the cooking surface, so you can be sure that food cooks evenly, whether in the center of the pan or around the edges.
Michelin star chef Soenil Bahadoer has designed the range of pans together with ISENVI with quality and affordability in mind, and to bring out different flavors. Whether you bake a steak, make a stew, a Surinamese fried rice, a stew, a Thai curry or a Chinese wok dish, there is a pan for all your needs. The pan set of 6 pieces consists of:a wok with lid, a saucepan with lid, two frying pans with lid and two saucepans. Although I love to cook – I cook a dish from a different kitchen almost every day – I don't have a lot of cupboard space. It's super convenient to limit my cookware set to these necessities, and everything fits easily into a small kitchen cupboard.
The pan set from ISENVI is also oven safe, which means that the pans can easily be placed in the oven from any heat source (induction, gas, electric, halogen or ceramic) to finish a dish. Moreover, the pans are also suitable for the dishwasher, which is not often the case with ceramic pans!
To test the pans right away, I decided to try an Indian prawn dish with rice that I had seen at Masterchef Australia. First, you need less oil and/or butter, which makes for a healthier meal. And even with the best non-stick pans, rice tends to stick to the pan. But after letting the pans cool, I washed them under the tap and to my surprise they were spotless. As for the curry which tends to stain hands and dishtowels, the leftovers came off the pan easily – no yellow spots to be found. I also used the wok to make a stew with beef and Surinamese noodles, and it went very well. The wok is therefore very diverse and recommended if you can only afford one pan.
I've only had these pans for a short time, but they are a real pleasure to cook with. They perform well, are easy to clean and look great on the table. Having pots and pans that double as crockery is a big plus – fewer dishes to wash!
