In some rooms blackout is necessary, in other rooms you want privacy. But there are also rooms where almost transparent curtains will suffice. Which types of curtains have which properties? We list them for you.
Still a bit light
Vitrages are almost transparent. These curtain fabrics are made in such a way that when you sit inside, you can see straight through the curtains to the outside. Not the other way around:you keep your privacy. It is true that you see shadows in the evening, if you look from the outside in. If you don't like that, use closed curtains. At night you can't see anything if you look outside.
In between
Then you also have curtain fabrics that are in between. This is a curtain that you can fit between the sheer curtain and the curtain. The name is very appropriate:inbetween. Natural light is transmitted from outside to inside. Yet these curtains provide more privacy than a net curtain.
Privacy 'to the max'
The curtains give you the most seclusion. If you close this one, you'll be in your own cocoon. Provided the curtains are not so short that you can see past or under them. It is best to measure the curtains so wide that they fit well along the window, on all four sides. Curtain fabrics used for drapes are thicker. The big advantage is that these fabrics also keep out the cold. Curtains also provide atmosphere and are an acoustic addition to the (living) room.
In the dark Blackout curtains are especially recommended for people who work at night and sleep during the day. These ensure that no light gets through, so that the room is reasonably to completely dark. Even when the sun is shining outside, you can create a kind of night with these curtains. Sleeping well is important if you work irregularly, so these curtains are almost indispensable for night workers!
