I'll give you a standard answer:it depends.
Most swimsuits indicate on the label that it is best to wash them by hand.
Industry professionals tell us that the wash cycle can actually damage the fabric of the jersey.
Hand washing not only keeps the colors vibrant...
...but also to give more longevity to the material.
Not to mention the fact that the jersey keeps its original shape much better.
Nevertheless, more and more textile companies have adopted specific machine washable fabrics.
So if you prefer to wash in the washing machine, opt for a resistant fabric such as polyester or nylon.
In any case, take a good look at the label of the swimsuit before cleaning it.
At what temperature should you wash your swimsuit in the washing machine?
Preferably cold, but especially not at a temperature that exceeds 30°C, so especially not at 60 degrees.
If your swimsuit requires hand washing, baking soda is the perfect product to use.
According to an expert, bicarbonate cleans all types of swimsuits perfectly.
To "bring life back" to your jersey , do the following:
Fill a sink or basin with fresh water and add 4 teaspoons of baking soda.
Dip your swimsuit in the mixture, leave to act, the baking soda takes care of the rest.
It refreshes, eliminates odors and revives colors.
In short, you give a second life to your swimsuit.
All you have to do is rinse it and hang it on a drying rack to dry it.
Not only is baking soda an excellent cleaner, but it is also very effective in removing stubborn stains.
This is true for sunscreen stains as well. only to remove wine or coffee stains.
For that, nothing could be simpler, just follow this little trick:
Mix 120g baking soda with 1/3 cup hot water until a paste forms.
First apply this paste to a small area of the jersey to see if it does not discolor.
If the test is conclusive, spread the paste on the stain and let it dry.
All you have to do is wash the jersey and dry it.
If you don't have baking soda or prefer to use detergent, here's how.
The best way to clean a swimsuit with detergent is to use a mild detergent or none at all!
In fact, specialists recommend washing in cold water without detergent for delicate swimwear.
For machine washable jerseys, washing with a mild detergent is possible.
Finally, for a fairly dirty jersey, pour a small amount of detergent into warm water.
Stir the water so that the soap mixes well and let the jersey soak for 30 minutes before rinsing.
The professionals are unanimous:
No need to wash your bathing suit every time you go swimming!
Cleaning after 3 to 5 uses is more than enough.
However, bathing in chlorinated water is a different story.
Indeed, the chlorine that is not eliminated can eat away at the fibers of the jersey and therefore degrade it.
In these conditions, washing with a mild soap immediately after swimming is necessary.
At a minimum, for chlorinated or very salty water, rinsing with fresh water is recommended.
One of the most important things experts insist on is to always air dry clothes.
Indeed, our specialists believe that dryers considerably reduce the life of a jersey!
Especially for jerseys whose materials are Spandex or Lycra.
If you want your bikini to last for years, be sure to hang it up to dry!
Obviously these cleaning and drying tips are valid for all brands including:Princesse Tam Tam, Banana Moon and Calzedonia.
And for all colors:white, pink, blue, etc.
